Children’s Books Online – See Translations

Don Hammatt has written two children’s books that teach the gospel of salvation and the gospel of Christian living by grace. “Our mission is to be an organization that is dedicated to promoting the gospel to all people. Its publications, books, and other media are designed to provide a clear picture of the love of Jesus. The vision for Praise Works is to present the gospel in words that small children can understand and to provide these Christian books and other resources to prisons for prisoners to read to their visiting children and to ministries to reach the unreached.”

Training Report – May 2014

The One Month Counselor Training Institute for seven attendees from April 21 was concluded on May 22. Two of them were GCI Board members who attended our 1st and 2nd phases of One Month Trainings in 1991-1992 & 2001-2002 – they took it as a Refresher course for them and a third one who attended our two weeks Intensive Training Institute in 2012; they were in our 17 member faculty also.

Meanwhile, we had an Exchanged Life Seminar from May 7 – 10, attended by 12 more. The 16 (excluding the 3 members of the faculty) were awarded the certificates for the two courses.

Seminar group at GCI - May 2014

Seminar group at GCI – May 2014

Dr. John Woodward from GFI was in the faculty of 17. His messages were very enriching to all of us. Prof. P. P. Thomas and Dr. Alex Mathew ministered to us visiting the Centre one day each. They desired to come for more days but could not due to ill-health and pressing situations at their homes.

Some more people attended the programs for shorter duration of time.
People who had been trained in Bible Schools shared that they have never been to such deeper understanding of the Scripture as expounded in our TI, especially the study of Romans.

Those who came with the thinking that Christian counselling is Integration of Psychology and Counseling went back with the understanding of Contextualization for Biblical direction (use of insights of psychology as long as such are in harmony with the teachings of the Word of God).

Moreover, those who were under the impression that Christian counselling as taught by GFI and GCI are not applicable to Indian Multi-cultural, multi-religious context, returned with the understanding that the message of the cross is applicable to all and we will be able to help anyone in need to the extent s/he is open to the Truth and can lead such to the limit they are willing to go, by the grace of God.

We have re-affirmed/confirmed the vision about GFI/GCI system of counseling through this program, especially with the ministry of John Woodward from GFI.

Finance: Expenses was around Rs.105,000; Of the 17 faculty members only four accepted the token honorarium given. Rs.27,162 was received from the 15 trainees. Four Board members contributed Rs.37,190. Pray for the balance amount needed around Rs.41,000. Any of you who want to financially support the GCI ministry may transfer your contributions to: (IRS) GRACE COUNSELING INDIA, Federal Bank Muvattupuzha A/C No:10090100174258 IFSC:FDRL0001009 and intimate the same through sms or e-mail to the undersigned.
Foreign contributions may be sent by crossed Checks in favour of “GRACE COUNSELING INDIA SBI Muvattupuzha Branch” and send to ” Prof. John Zachariah, Vakkeppadiacal House, 10 Gandhi Nagar, Muvattupuzha – 686 661 India.

Thank you for your prayer and all other kinds of support extended to the ministry, especially for the one month Training Institute and the 3-Day Seminar. Your continued prayers are requested.

In His Grace and Love

John Zachariah
-Executive Secretary

Nov 2013 Ministry Update – AGBM

GCI Annual General Body Meeting:
We had the AGBM on 14th November 2013 at the GCI Centre. We thanked the Lord for the blessings we received during the year. God revived our ministry through the prayers of many. GFI support, both financial and spiritual, really enabled us to go forward more actively. Deepak is still under training but his stay at the centre makes the activities at the centre very much active.

Study Circle: We have regular Study Circle of 5 of us meeting most of the weeks.

Grace Children Club:
We started GCC for about 25 children aiming a their total growth – spiritual, academic, character, health. Most of the children are from poor families and their fathers are mostly drunkards which affect their total development.

Chapel services:
Gradually we want to enter into their families of the children to counsel them and to bring them to regular evening fellowship meetings.

Abundant Life Seminars:
We conducted one seminar for three days for the abundant life and blessings of 11 participants. We are planing similar 3-5 days programs when there are holidays.

One Month Counselor Training Institute:
Planned to be conducted from April 21 to May 23, 2014. We resolved to invite a Grace Fellowship leader to visit India to conduct programs according to the days he is available but at least one week to train the trainees in the Training Institute,

Church Leaders Seminars:
We plan Exchanged Life Seminars for Pastors and Christian workers including lay leaders on a regular basis. Planning will be done with Church leaders on 21st November.

Publications:
We have decided to publish
Bi-monthly Gleanings of Grace,

We plan to make the Library system in better order for pubic to come and read books, may be collecting small Library Fees

Counseling is to be made regular through advertisements in News Papers and magazines

Tripura Mission:
I plan to visit Tripura Mission workers from 26th November to 7th December and to conduct Abundant Life Seminar for them for three or 4 days. We work in Tripura is among poor Tribal communities. The Seminar can conducted only with the needed finance from some sponsors. We plan for 20 workers to attend the program, the number depends on the funds available. About US $600 is expected to be the expense for the Seminar

GCI Chennai Centre:
Decided to appoint Capt. T. M. Cherian, trained by GCI last year, to be the Director of Chennai Centre at the Chennai Tyrannous Hall of St. Thomas Evangelical Church of India. He is already doing counseling at the centre for the University students staying in CTH. We will plan regular training programs in Chennai under his leadership

Mike Wells’ one of the last letters to people: MW to Dr. Alex Mathew

Thank you brother, and your response only drives deeper the Truth for me.

I see why God put you in my life to be an influence and to steer me in the right direction.  I remember being 16 and buying an old truck from the farmer next to us.  It was so old that when I pulled it, by tractor, from his barn, the barn caved in.  I made that truck like new.  The old man was really happy.  I had it for years and nearly wore it out.  Then I sold it to a young fellow that rebuilt it like new and took it to Canada.  I think of that in the context of abiding.  You were given an old message and made it relevant to me.  I will pass it on, as an old message, to someone younger to make new for their generation. You have been blessed and God has put the message, through you, into others.  It is up to them to make it “new” for their generation.

It is interesting that at 60 I can’t be motivated. I was invited to speak to 2,000 pastors (more of that later).  I just said, “OK.” That was it.  I have done little things as though they were big things (I have done three full conferences for only one person), therefore, God has allowed me to do big things as though they are little. I am not motivated by being someone. I, like you have taught me, only care about Him and what He is saying. I was offered to be on television with a “famous” American evangelist and I said, “No, I like what I do in villages.” Brother, there is the tree of good and evil and we are not to eat from it. Therefore, I cannot say that what I have done in my Christian life was good or bad, a success or failure, productive or not, expansive or not, or that people were trained or not. Eating from the tree of life has freed me from such thinking. I only want Him.

This is what is so attractive about you. You have Him and being around you all the “religious systems” just pale to what you carry in your countenance. Brother, I don’t believe that the seeds we have sown are “hay, wood and stubble.” I believe they are LIFE. I trust that we are pleasing to Him. I believe we are. Remember the Prophets that basically said, “God, remember our attempts.” We have only made “attempts” but “attempts” really don’t worry me. I want to be buried in the Vine and submersed in that Vine. Amen.

I have been asked by many people, as you have, “Who will take over after you are gone?” I simply say, “I didn’t make me or the ministry, God did, and therefore it is not mine to worry about. If he could raise a dummy like me, what could He do with someone much better? I refuse to try to pass on the mantle. It is not mine to pass on. God knows who He will pass it on to.” You have always had a mantle, a special grace, a love for the hurting and all those things are something we cannot pass on. They are God given and for some reason God passed them on to you. Well, amen.

My newest book will be out next month and I will send you a case of them. It is entitled, My Weakness for His Strength.

I have considered you one of my closest friends and yet probably never told you. We connected from day one. Amen. God is always blessing me.

Love you heaps,

 Mike—–Your friend!

Oh, as always a big hug to Grace.

(Mike was taken away by His beloved Jesus exactly two years back – on 11th October 2011)
